March 24, 2010

The first litter of a 2nd generation outcross Abyssinian-Ocicat has been born on 24th March at Cattery OciOci’s. This outcross was setup to refresh the bloodlines of Ocicats in The Netherlands (see also NORV-Newsletter nr. 4 June 2009 and nr. 5 October 2009). Two out of 7 healthy kittens in this 2nd generation litter are fully spotted. See for more information and pictures the website of OciOci’s.

With great shock the knowledge came to us that Barbara Stewart (Cattery Auxarcs Ocicats in the USA) suddenly passed away. Barbara was one of the founders of the Ocicat breed and became a prominent breeder in the past 23 years. Her cats and lines are highly regarded worldwide. The thoughts of NORV/DOBC board and members are with her family and friends in this difficult time.

November 11, 2009 Changes in the NORV/DOBC board

Unfortunately the three board-members mrs. Els v.d. Berk, mrs. Bertie Ottens and mrs. Mischa Grob have resigned from their board-position. We deeply regret this but will do our utmost so that the interest of the association and the Ocicat-breed will not be affected by this development. The objectives, being improvement and expansion of the breed, will be pursued undiminished making use of genuine and correct criteria and scientific facts, while the health of the Ocicat-breed remains of major interest. The further development of the association's breeding-policy and regulations will be fully aimed at this and will be the basis for these objectives. In forthcoming newsletters and the next General Member Assemblee (planned for January or February 2010) we will provide more details on these developments.
