Welcome at the site of the Dutch Ocicat Breed Club (Nederlandse Ocicat Ras Vereniging).
The NORV/DOBC, the first independent breed association for the Ocicat in The Netherlands, was established on September 23rd 2007. The objectives, maintenance and improvement of the breed, must be seen in the broadest meaning. Besides the intention of the association to maintain and to improve the health and exterior of the Ocicat where necessary, amongst others by stimulation of exchange of breeding animals and support of sound breeding programs, it is also important to promote the interest in- and reputation of the breed.
On this website you can find information on genetics, advice regarding health and animal welfare, exterior of the Ocicat and many other subjects which may be of your interest. The Ocicat is a very special and extremely beautiful breed with an attractive character. Would you like to have more information on the Ocicat, please do not hesitate to contact us. All members (approximately 60 per December 2009) of which several breeders in various countries, are very enthusiastic about their cats and are surely willing to tell you more as well.
The NORV/DOBC can guarantee optimal health and quality of cats and kittens due to the fact that all breeder-members highly regard these aspects. Within the association there is many years of experience with Ocicat-breeding, so that optimal support and advice is provided for breeders. Besides that, one of our board-members is veterinarian, hence a scientific and professional basis for the policy and advice on breeding, genetics and health-monitoring is guaranteed.
On the light of this experience and sound knowledge, the NORV/DOBC is preparing revolutionary rules and regulations for breeders, of which you can find more information on this website.
Hence, by obtaining a kitten from NORV/DOBC-breeders you will have optimal guarantee for a beautiful and healthy Ocicat for a fair price. The latter aspect is also very important within the NORV/DOBC, whereas primary commercial breeding is not supported and a maximum price for kittens sold in The Netherlands is advised.
